So, the same 5.25-inch truck mentioned above can fit an 8.5-inch deck size easily as well.

GET A QUOTEWebAn area I dont fully understand is the relationship of truck/deck widths and whether wheels are wider or narrower than the deck. I recently rode a SB with the wheels slightly wider than the deck and liked it. When the trucks are too narrow for the deck I dislike the topsy turvy feel. Can anyone explain the science to help me understand?

GET A QUOTEWeb8.375" deck with 8" trucks (Independent 139) I've picked up an old board with 139 indy trucks (8" axle length). The deck (7.9") is a bit beaten up and ugly design so I'd like to get a new one, partly so it feels more like my board and not a second hand one I bought. I've seen a super nice deck in my local skate shop that's 8.375".

From center of board a 8.38" is only .065" bigger on each side than a 8.25" so it's probably not that big of a deal 148 range is 8.12"-8.38" 149 range is 8.38"-8.62 I use a quarter inch (.25")rule you can overhang or underhand by a quarter inch and you are all good.
